Period costuming fans?
A friend of an aquaintance is selling these cool CD-ROMs of ladies fashion from 1881 (the year of the OK Corral shootout!) made from their extensive collection of antique ladies' fashion peridocials. It has apparently got hundreds of images of women's clothes and accessories and some for little girls as well.
They're planning future discs for other decades, but the e-bay link for the 1881 CD-ROM is here.

Not enough activity in this community! Blargh! Grrr! People CLEARLY aren't having enough fun with clothing.

EVERYONE, go to a theme party of some kind! Throw it yourself, if you have to! And post pictures! Maybe sometime in the future, when I feel like it, we could have a party contest; whoever has the best party outfit pictures wins. When I come up with a prize. In the meantime, some pictures from a toga party!

buncha pictures. I didn't count how many.Collapse )

fabric, anyone?
I have a metric crapload of fabric to unload, and I don't have time to list it on ebay, coz I am moving. If anyone is interested in giving me an offer, please let me know and I will provide pictures and more information.
I have:
A ton of solid and patterned alpine fleece
Coordinating blue checked gingham cloth and trim plus some ruffly blue trim (purchased for curtains that were never made)
Some red and black vinyl
A bunch of black and white checked cotton fabric
Various bits and bobs in the trim category

Anyone? Bueller?

I am fuzzy.
There is not enough posting in this community (largely my own fault, I know).

First off, a question: Anyone out there feel like designing some kind of layout for this community? I know nothing of how to do such things, but this "default layout" HARDLY fits in with the values of the community.

And next I shall post a picture of the coat I made (I've gotten an order for a similar one, which is veryvery exciting! To the fabric store! *zoom*).

One day I will get off my lazy ass and put lining and buttons in it and then I will wear it more often.
When I made it, I was thinking of putting zippers in the sleeves so that I can remove them, but that's starting to seem a bit excessive.

I found out about this site from rhpscostumes, it's really fantastic. All kinda of costume pieces, props, wigs, etc.

Best items I saw include: knee high pirate boots, rainbow suspenders, and a fake ham on string.
Most confusing item: a hippie costume under "ehtnic costumes". buh?

they have a free catalogue! i know i ordered one. I <3 free stuff.

Welcome, everyone, to past_the_nines!
As I said in my assorted community pimpage posts and in the community information, this is a community for people who appreciate costumes.

People can post asking for sewing tips, looking for ideas, you can post pictures of costumes either made by you or not, either worn by you or not, to talk about costume parties you've attended, or anything costume-related!

I personally just really like costumes and would wear a pirate suit around the city because it'd be awesome, Hallowe'en or otherwise. Even if you're not quite that bold, but admire people who are, feel free to tell us all about the crazy person in the pirate suit you saw wandering about in the Eaton Centre!

And with that, I declare this community OFFICIALLY OPEN!

i am *so* past The Nines. Done, kaput. It's over, guys... I LOVE YOUR BAND SO MUCH, but only two full-albums in like 7 years is NOT ENOUGH. The wait between new material is excruciating. "Next full album release, tentatively Winter 2002/2003"??? LIES, and you know it. That was the WORST CHRISTMAS EVER.

So, it's all over, Nines. I'M PAST YOU NOW.
